Saturday in Sligo

There was a lot going on in Sligo today. The first thing we did was call into Homebase as they had a family fun day for the teenage cancer society. There was some live music, great cakes and a raffle. I hope it raised lots of money.

Then we went to the new store in the retail park. It’s Homestore + more the photo is above. It’s a great store. They sell everything from baking tins, curtains, decorations, candles, storage and loads more. It’s nice to see another store in the retail park.

We headed into the town to have a look at the French Market. To be honest it wasn’t as good as other years. There were only a few stalls so we didn’t hang around.

On the way home we called into The Village Foodfare in Collooney. They were having a re-opening party. It’s all changed around there. The gourmet parlour have moved and there is now a great deli and salad bar in the place. There was some spooky storytelling and face painting upstairs in The Roundabout for the kids. Ocean FM were also broadcasting, although to be honest I wonder why because the DJ was just sitting at a table and not talking to anyone, only talking into his microphone.

  1. I love browsing round shops like that.
It’s typical that the French Market is on – we were there this time last yr, well flying back today, and it was on before we were there!
