You gotta fight for your right to party!

, originally uploaded by Harder. Better. Faster. Stronger..

Ok so I’m not a happy bunny today.

Lucy is a big fan of Aiden Grimshaw from the X Factor and was delighted to see that he was coming to the Cartown nightclub in Carrick on Shannon. The event was advertised before Christmas and said it was for all ages.

I bought the tickets from the Sligo ticketmaster outlet yesterday. Then today the Cartown nightclubs facebook page have changed it to over 18’s only. Even though ticketmaster is still advertising it as all ages.

So now I have two tickets that we can’t use and one very upset Lucy.

Update Thursday 12 noon. Ticketmaster is now saying over 18. I have the screenshot of the all ages page. Cartown said on their facebook page it’s out of their control. Although Aiden Grimshaw’s mother said the venue set the age restrictions. I still have two useless tickets and an upset daughter.

  1. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. that’s TOTALLY out of order. So as a well known face on the local front pages Val, (oooh how bad does that sound?! ;D) it is now your opportunity to stand up and be noticed as someone with a massive voice to be reckoned with. Fingers crossed you’ll get a chance to catch up with the lad himself after all.

    1. That’s what Lucy thinks Clare.
I’ve been making a noise about it on twitter. I might give the local paper a shout, still waiting to hear back from the place though.

  2. that is awful. They should have thought about that long before they sold the tickets. You should qualify for a refund I would agrue the point. And WHY have they changed it ot over 18’s – he is a “young persons act” anyway. I can understand her disappointment. Hope you get it sorted.

  3. Hmm, advertising one thing, selling that item and then changing it so the people who bought it cant use it, sounds like possible false advertising to me, especially since the age has changed to 18s but the tickets are still on sale advertised as All Ages.

There are other selling practices that could describe it but they are probably “harsh” and if the promoters read them they wouldnt like being described that way 🙂

Contact the national consumer agency and see what they advise. Who is the guy who does consumer issues on the radio (today fm or newstalk) he used to write for a newspaper as well? Maybe he’d give it some coverage.

  4. presumably this is so they can make more money selling booze :/

so sad there a v few all ages things to do anyway.

    hope you get a result!

otherwise, how about dress up and sneak in >:)

  5. That’s dreadful, Val. Good that you took a screenshot from ticketmaster before they changed it. I see from twitter that you have @conor_pope on your case, hopefully he’ll be able to sort it out.

Keep us informed how it goes.
