Tubbercurry Car Boot Sale

There was a car boot sale in Tubbercurry today in aid of the GAA. We had been hoping to have a stall but 20 euro a go was too expensive. It’s OK if you have a big van but when you only have a little car and have to bring the kids we wouldn’t have been able to fit much in.

We went for a look around though. It looked really good, like an English car boot sale (except it was 2 euro each to get in). Lucy got a couple of necklaces, mum got some plant pots and a jumper. Jono and I bought nothing but it was a nice trip out.

I hope they run another one and that next time it’s 10 euro for a stall and we’ll be able to go and sell some things.

  1. I’ve heard some nightmares from friends who ran (or attempted to run) stalls at a car boot, being swamped for example and people opening their doors and boot before they’ve even turned the engine off on theor arrival at 6 am. I am amused that others have the temerity of offering a few pennies for something clearly worth a hell of a lot more and then getting upset that you’ve turned them down. I don’t think I could cope with the pressure.

  2. Val, I’m adding a comment to all BBC members blogs to say that our June book is ‘The Children’s Book’ by A.S. Byatt to post on the first Sunday in July. Our next book then is ‘The Poisonwood Bible’ by Barbara Kingsolver. Enjoy reading.
