Down in the woods

Down in the woods, originally uploaded by magnum_lady.

Yesterday Lucy was going shopping with her friends. So Jono and I decided to go off exploring. There are more photos here.

First of all we went to Hazelwood forest. Which is a really lovely woods on the shore of Lough Gill, which the poet WB Yeats wrote about. We were going to have a picnic by the lake side but the swans and seagulls wouldn’t leave us alone, so we went further into the wood to have it.

We had a two hour walk, mainly because we got lost! We ended up at an old disused factory (I don’t know how they were allowed to build a factory in such a scenic area). Anyway we couldn’t get out that way so we doubled back. We should have worn wellies because we got covered in mud.

Jono was behind me on the walk back and he let out an almighty yell, I thought he’d fallen so turned around and saw this big dog galloping by…..I wasn’t expecting it so I screamed as well…..lol. What are we like?!

When we eventually got back to civilisation we went to Glencar in County Leitrim. There is a lovely waterfall there, my photo doesn’t do it justice.

By the time we had finished our adventures Lucy was ready to come home. This is the most amount of walking Jono has done for months and he said his back wasn’t hurting near as much as before he had his surgery.

I have to say a big thank you to rarelesserspotted for my blog award 🙂

  1. Val, for years I always had to walk in the same direction around Hazelwood or else I too would get lost. I assume you came on the old Saehan factory, it used to make videotape and video cassettes but closed in 2006.

Delighted to see Jono so able for that long walk.
