If I had a euro for every person who’s asked me this week, “Have you seen Brad Pitt yet?” I’d be a rich woman!
The truth? No. I haven’t seen him. And believe me, if I had, you’d all know about it by now!
So, why Brad Pitt? His latest movie is filming in Mullaghmore this week, and social media has been buzzing with the news. Isle of Man is an upcoming Amazon MGM Studios racing drama centering on the Isle of Man TT motorcycle race. Stars include Channing Tatum, Eve Hewson, Ciarán Hinds, and May Calamawy, and the director is Reid Carolin. Plan B Entertainment (owned by Brad Pitt) is producing the movie, and scenes have already been filmed in Kildare and of course the Isle of Man. You can see some behind the scenes here:
It’s lovely to see somewhere so close to home getting its moment in the spotlight, and it’s not the first time that Sligo has appeared on the big screen, although it’s usually Gleniff Horseshoe that’s the location. This time it’s the turn of Mullaghmore – another stunning place in Sligo, with a dramatic coastline and Benbulben providing the backdrop – it’s easy to see why filmmakers would choose it.
I imagine there are plenty of people hoping for a chance encounter with Brad, and who knows? I’ll watch this space with interest. But having already failed to meet Timmy Mallet, Ronan Keating and Dermot O’Leary, I’m not holding my breath.
If you are heading to Mullaghmore, be aware that the coastal road by the castle will be closed from 7am on the 16th and 2pm on the 17th of July – and I imagine the place will be very busy.
So, if you’re about to message me asking if I’ve seen Brad Pitt…
The answer is still no.
But don’t worry. If that changes, you’ll probably hear about it before the national news does.
Let me know if you see anything film related.
