If you read the blog regularly, you’ll know that sponsorship helps keep it going. Last year my blog was in danger of disappearing altogether. Thankfully, it was saved by the incredible support of six brilliant Sligo businesses who came on board to sponsor the blog. Their support means I no longer have to worry about covering the cost of my website’s domain and storage, and I’m so grateful to each of them. I’ve written about all of the sponsors here.
I’ve been writing about Sligo and the west of Ireland for many years now, sharing places to visit, events, local businesses, and the people who make this part of the world special. The support of local businesses means I can continue doing that.
I’m delighted that Waxies is one of the sponsors of the blog. Located on Rockwood Parade, Waxies is one of Sligo’s newest food and drink venues. The venue takes its name from the area’s trading history, when the streets around the Garavogue River were at the centre of commerce in the town and documents were sealed with wax stamps. Today, the building has been reimagined as a modern hospitality venue while still retaining those local connections to Sligo’s past.
Waxies is part of a wider venue that also includes An Táin and Tannery Lane, with each space drawing inspiration from a different aspect of Sligo’s history.

What I particularly like about working with local sponsors is that they are invested in Sligo. They are creating places for people to meet, celebrate, enjoy good food, and spend time together. You have to try their food by the way – the ice cream sundaes are amazing!
A huge thank you to the team at Waxies for supporting the blog. Their sponsorship helps me continue sharing stories, photographs, events, and recommendations from around the northwest.
If you’re in Sligo town, you can find Waxies on Rockwood Parade, and you can learn more about them on their website. I hope you’ll support the businesses that support local creators and local storytelling.
