If you live in Sligo, chances are you know Jill. She spent 34 years running the much-loved Drumcliffe Tea House before finally hanging up her apron. After five years away, Jill is back with Jill’s Kitchen at Laura’s in Carney.

Step through the green door and it’s like entering a TARDIS. Inside, you’ll find several cosy rooms, an outdoor seating area, a counter stocked with Irish produce, and a tempting display of homemade cakes.

The raspberry and lemon cheesecake instantly brought back memories of the Drumcliffe days.

Jill’s Kitchen is more than a café, it’s a step back in time. Beautiful artefacts are dotted throughout the space, and everywhere you look there’s something to catch your eye.

I also spotted a charming little room that felt like a traditional snug, along with a sign announcing that afternoon tea is coming soon. As a big fan of afternoon tea, I’ll definitely be back to investigate….for research purposes, of course!

Wishing Jill and her team every success in this exciting new chapter. You can find them online: Facebook and Instagram.
