Sligo’s Newest Café – Jill’s Kitchen at Laura’s

If you live in Sligo, chances are you know Jill. She spent 34 years running the much-loved Drumcliffe Tea House before finally hanging up her apron. After five years away, Jill is back with Jill’s Kitchen at Laura’s in Carney.

Interior of a rustic café featuring wooden chairs and tables, with an old sign reading 'COLMAN'S MUSTARD' on the wall, surrounded by books and plants.

Step through the green door and it’s like entering a TARDIS. Inside, you’ll find several cosy rooms, an outdoor seating area, a counter stocked with Irish produce, and a tempting display of homemade cakes.

A layered cake featuring a creamy white topping, garnished with fresh raspberries and chocolate shavings, displayed in a refrigerated case.

The raspberry and lemon cheesecake instantly brought back memories of the Drumcliffe days.

Interior of a cozy room featuring a vintage mantelpiece, a large ornate mirror, a sofa, and wooden chairs. There is a plant and a lamp on the mantel, along with a small radio and a framed photo, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Jill’s Kitchen is more than a café, it’s a step back in time. Beautiful artefacts are dotted throughout the space, and everywhere you look there’s something to catch your eye.

A circular dining table set for afternoon tea, featuring floral-patterned china cups and plates, glassware, and a three-tiered serving stand. A sign reads 'Afternoon Tea COMING SOON...'. The background includes wooden walls and a partially open door.

I also spotted a charming little room that felt like a traditional snug, along with a sign announcing that afternoon tea is coming soon. As a big fan of afternoon tea, I’ll definitely be back to investigate….for research purposes, of course!

A breakfast menu from Jill's Kitchen featuring a variety of dishes including Full Breakfast, Mini Breakfast, and add-ons like smoked salmon and avocado.

Wishing Jill and her team every success in this exciting new chapter. You can find them online: Facebook and Instagram.

A cozy seating area featuring two vintage pink upholstered armchairs with decorative pillows, positioned around a small round wooden table. A colorful wall art piece is visible behind the chairs, set against a green wall.
