Towards the end of last year, my blog was in danger of disappearing altogether. Thankfully, it was saved by the incredible support of six brilliant Sligo businesses who came on board to sponsor the blog. Their support means I no longer have to worry about covering the cost of my website’s domain and storage, and I’m so grateful to each of them. I’ve written about all of the sponsors here.

The Glasshouse Hotel in the heart of Sligo town, is one of my sponsors, and I recently had the pleasure of meeting Vanessa, the hotel’s Sales Manager, for a relaxed and insightful chat about everything the hotel has to offer. Sitting in the bright, contemporary surroundings that The Glasshouse is known for, it was easy to see why this riverside gem has become such a standout destination along the Wild Atlantic Way.
From the moment you step inside, The Glasshouse feels different. Its modern design, vibrant interiors, and unbeatable views over the Garavogue River create a setting that’s both stylish and welcoming. But beyond the aesthetics, it’s the experiences they curate that really set them apart.

One of the highlights we spoke about was the themed dinner nights, this is something that has been drawing both locals and visitors alike. These evenings are all about flavour, atmosphere, and a little culinary adventure. If you haven’t experienced one yet, Thursday the 7th of May, marks the final opportunity to enjoy their Sri Lankan curry theme night, you can read my dedicated blog post here: https://magnumlady.com/2026/02/20/thursday-nights-done-right-a-sri-lankan-curry-experience-at-the-glasshouse/ Pre-booking is essential.

For those who prefer a more relaxed indulgence, their afternoon tea is another must-try. Whether you’re catching up with friends or celebrating a special occasion, it offers that perfect blend of elegance and comfort, beautifully presented treats paired with a cosy, unhurried atmosphere. Afternoon Tea is available on Saturday afternoons and must be pre-booked.
And then there’s Friday nights at The View Bar. With panoramic views, live music, charcuterie boards, and expertly crafted drinks, it’s easy to see why it’s such a popular spot to gather, unwind, and soak up the Sligo energy.

What I loved most about my conversation with Vanessa was her genuine passion – not just for the hotel, but for Sligo itself. When I asked her about her favourite place locally, she didn’t hesitate: Coney Island. Accessible at low tide and steeped in charm, it’s one of those hidden treasures that captures the magic of the area perfectly. It felt like a fitting recommendation from someone who clearly knows and loves where she works. You can listen to our chat on the podcast.
Spending time at The Glasshouse reminded me that a great hotel is more than just a place to stay- it’s an experience, a gateway to a destination, and a reflection of the people behind it. With its unique offerings, vibrant atmosphere, and dedicated team, it’s easy to see why it continues to make such an impression.
If you’re planning a visit to Sligo, or even just looking for a memorable evening out, The Glasshouse is definitely one to add to your list.
I also want to take a moment to say how genuinely grateful I am to have The Glasshouse Hotel as a sponsor of the blog. Partnering with a business that is so passionate about what they do, and so committed to creating memorable experiences, means a great deal to me. It’s collaborations like this that allow me to continue sharing places, stories, and experiences that I truly believe in, and I couldn’t be more thankful for their support.
