Sunday Thoughts

Happy Sunday to you all. I really should start these blog posts with something more interesting than that, but anyway, it is what it is.

I hope that you have had a good week, I’ve had a great one, very busy again, but very enjoyable. I met a couple of friends for coffee and got a lovely cake at one 🙂, I went to a comedy gig as part of the SO Funny Sligo Comedy Festival, and I made myself proud this week.

Making myself proud is a new thing for me, but it’s lovely to know that I can still surprise myself and do something that I didn’t think I’d be able for. I was invited to be a speaker on the Dot.Rural project webinar. My subject was ‘Building Rural Tourism Visibility Through Authentic Social Media Storytelling’, basically I was talking about my social media campaigns, the blog, the podcast, etc. and how other people and agencies can do something similar. I absolutely loved it! The time flew by and I could have talked for much longer. Whenever I talk about the blog, Sligo, etc. it’s like sparks go off inside me, I have so many ideas, and it’s such a passion. I love that feeling, it makes all the hours worthwhile. I didn’t think I’d be able to do something like that, but I’m very proud that I did it, and I’m grateful to the project team for asking me.

We had snow yesterday, and it settled for a bit, it’s all gone today though. At least we haven’t been hammered by the rain, like the East have, it makes a chance for the North West to get away with not having storms.

My DNA results came back! Lucy gave me a kit for Christmas, and I was intrigued, anyway the results are above. I’m a bit shook by Norway, I wasn’t expecting that at all! Quite a lot (hundreds!) of distant cousins have shown up, and my Granduncle has shown up too, sadly he’s no longer with us. It’s fascinating when you think about it.

I posted the photo above on my Facebook page. I was delighted to hear that O’Grady’s in Coolaney stock Carraig Rua Almond Croissants. I used to love getting them at Achonry Farmer’s Market and I miss them. I’d forgotten about the people who always think I get food for free!

I will always tell you if I get food for free and I always have. Bloggers have to specify if something is gifted, or sponsored, and I agree with this, and adhere to it. It does get draining having to state this. I’m half wondering if I should show my receipt 😉

It’s my birthday on Tuesday, so Lucy and Laurence are coming over today, and I really should be tidying up, not typing, but here we are! I’m taking myself off for a seaweed bath on Tuesday, and hopefully a nice breakfast or lunch somewhere. It’s pancake day too, but I don’t know of anywhere in Carrick doing pancakes, apart from Honestly, and I had them at Christmas, so I’d like to go somewhere else.

Wishing you all a lovely week ahead, and thank you for reading.
