Sunday Thoughts

Forgive me, it’s been two weeks since my last Sunday Thoughts blog post, I’m aware that sounds like the start of a confession!  I hope you’ve all been keeping well and enjoying the fabulous sunshine if you are in Ireland. What a shame it decided to leave us, but I suppose the flowers needed the rain, and it’s meant to be sunny again next week, or so I’m told.

I’m plodding on, I’ve been busy, and I’m still not feeling the best. I finished my course of B12 injections, the fifth one was on Wednesday, but after that amazing boost of energy with the first injection, I’m back to being my wrecked self. The only thing I will say is that my skin looks better, and the bags under my eyes aren’t quite as dark. My tongue is still missing half its coating on one side and is still a bit sore. I think I was hoping to be feeling a lot better, but I know it can take a while for the B12 to kick in. I go back in the middle of next month to have a blood test and see what my levels are like.

I got to see my photo exhibition in Tubbercurry library during the week. It’s so lovely to have not one but two exhibitions at the same time. This is down to getting older, the Bealtaine festival supports creativity as we age, and as I’m over 50 it gave me the chance to apply for the exhibition space, and I’m delighted that I got it. A sincere thank you to Catherine Fanning, who works so hard curating the Sligo Bealtaine Festival, and so many other art festivals and events in Sligo, she’s an amazing lady. She’s also a very talented artist, and you can look at her work here.

I also got to meet with two friends last week. It’s always nice to catch up over coffee. The first one was quite stressful because I got lost in the woods beforehand, I’ll write about that soon. It’s not a good look arriving late with bits of tree sticking out of my hair!

Last Sunday me and Jono went out for dinner to Walker 1781, it was so lovely. I love getting my dinner handed to me, it doesn’t happen nearly enough! The food was amazing too. You can read about it here.

The Leitrim Gathering is taking place this weekend. I visited Mohill Country Market on behalf of Taste Leitrim. It was a fabulous event, and I really enjoyed capturing it. You can see the photos and videos on the Taste Leitrim page. I always have way more confidence when I’m doing things for work, and not for myself or the blog. The people were lovely too, and it makes such a difference. Oh, I must tell you about my breakfast! I treated myself to waffles at Boyce and Co. They were amazing! I’d really recommend a visit if you are in the area.

I also visited Lough Rynn Walled Gardens. What an incredible place! The Wisteria was in bloom and the place was filled with the scent of roses and the buzz of bees. It’s a stunning location and a credit to the staff. I’ll add some photos to this post, and put the rest on my Facebook page.

Yesterday I was visiting more Leitrim events. I really enjoyed visiting the exhibition at Solas Art Gallery, and meeting two of the artists involved. I pushed myself to do a podcast, a big thanks to Maria and Paul for speaking to me. I’ll post the podcast when I upload it.

I stopped at Poll an Easa Waterfall in Aughnasheelin, it was my first time to visit it. There’s a photo at the top of the blog page. I’m sure it would look more spectacular after a heavy rainfall, but it was lovely to see it, and I even saw a brave person taking a dip! Rather them than me!

On my way home I stopped at another event. I was late because I hadn’t planned to visit, it was spur of the moment, so I ended up mid-tour. I was taking photos and started doing small video clips so that I could make a reel for social media. Normally I’d check with the tour guide, but I didn’t want to disturb them. To cut a long story short I got asked to stop videoing. I didn’t get anyone in the video except the guide; it was just to give people an idea of the place. I felt stupid being called out in front of everyone. I understand that they are well within their rights to say no, and that’s fine, but it took me back to being at school when the teacher gives out to you and everyone turns to look. I was so embarrassed. As soon as it was possible to do so without drawing more attention to myself, I scuttled out of the building and headed home. It’s a shame that I felt this way because I’d been doing so well lately and was proud of myself for asking people to do a podcast earlier, and then this happened. Anyway, I’ll put it behind me. It happened and I must get over it. Lesson learned though – I will now always ask for permission beforehand, or just not do it.

Everything else is grand, there’s a busy week ahead with a few medical appointments in the family, hopefully everything will go well.

Wishing you all a good week ahead and thank you for reading.
