Sunday Thoughts

Another week has flown by, and Sunday is here again. I hope you’ve all had a lovely week; it’s been lovely to see some blue skies, and the weather has been so mild, I’ve found it difficult to sleep with the heat, a bit different from the -5 that we had the previous week. I woke up at 4am the other morning, and if it wasn’t pitch-black outside, I’d have been out walking. I talked some sense into myself though!

There are a couple of interesting things on the horizon for me this year, I’ll tell you more about them when I know more. One is happening quite soon, so watch this space. The other one is a creative project, I like to have at least one creative project each year, so I’m happy to be involved in this one. Creativity is such a huge part of my life, whether it’s painting or photography, or just being involved with other creatives. It also gets me away from the computer, I’ve spent so much time online recently that my shoulders have become full of knots. If I liked massages I’d go for one, but I’m still traumatised by a Thai massage I had once, I swear the woman was trying to kill me! I should really go back to Erin or Veronika.

I’m off to Manchester next week, it’s just for 24 hours and it’s going to be mad trying to fit everything in that I want to do. I had it all organised and then a blog reader suggested the David Hockney immersive exhibition, and that looks amazing and right up my street, so it’s another thing that I’ve added to my list. I don’t know if I’ll get there because you have to pre-book tickets, and it’s hard to know timings, in case the flight gets delayed. I’ll see how I go – although at this stage I’ll need roller-skates to get to everything!

It’s the first time that I’ve been away on my own in 6 years, the last time was a trip to Bristol, which I loved! I’m not worried about being on my own, I spend quite a lot of time alone and I like my own company. I also think I’m invisible, I’m at the age where no one takes any notice of me and to be honest I find that quite liberating. I don’t really like flying though, so we’ll see how that goes.

I got my hair done yesterday; it was way overdue, and Laurence gave me a voucher for Christmas. My hair was getting so long and messy, and it made me feel a lot more confident after I had it done, I even had a conversation with someone in a shop and felt comfortable doing it. It was a shop that I usually avoid because I’ve always felt not worthy, I know that’s all in my head, but it was a big step to go in and have a chat and not feel like I wanted to run back out again!

The next thing I want to get done with my hair is a 12-week blow-dry. I had it done years ago and it really calmed down my unruly hair, sadly the place I went to closed, but I’ve found a place that does it (and I don’t need to take out a mortgage), so I’m hoping to book that soon.

My nails are getting sorted next week, that’s another thing that’s been on the long finger (pun intended). My lovely nail technician has been away, and I haven’t had them done since the start of November, but they have lasted so well! No chips, just my nails growing. What an amazing nail technician Natalia is, I’m almost frightened to tell you in case she gets too busy to see me.

It’s so important for me to find places that I’m comfortable in, and The Hair and Beauty Quarter is my go-to for my hair (they don’t do the 12-week blow dry though), and ManiCare is my go-to for my nails.

I think that’s all my news for now, thank you for reading, and wishing you a good week ahead.
