Friday Feelings

I was at the Sligo Women in Business event in the ATU Sligo recently. The event was held in the Hume Hall, and I can’t begin to tell you about the emotions I felt walking into that room. You see that’s where my life changed back in 2019. I was in a very dark place back then, but I forced myself to go along to an event called Blooming Queens, hosted by Laura Magan from Momentum

I didn’t have any momentum back then, my self-confidence was at an all-time low, and I honestly felt that I was no use to anyone. I was trudging through life, struggling for money, juggling bills and dreading each one coming in.

Laura inspired me, she made me sit up and listen, and she made me realise that if I wanted things to change, I had to do something about it. No one knows what you are thinking unless you tell them, and you don’t have to stay in one place if it’s not the place for you.

To cut a long story short Laura told the room if they had something to ask someone to ask it and I reached out to Orla Casey who owns Momentum, and who I’d known for a number of years, and asked if she might have a job available. I am so happy to tell you that she did give me a job and my whole life changed.

I will be forever grateful and walking into the Hume Hall again, looking at the huge poster that says ‘The future is here’ bought it all back. My future did start there, and I realised that I did have something to offer, and that I wasn’t too old to start again.

Having this experience inspires me to try to support other women in business and people involved in small businesses, and I do this through the blog whenever I can, and most recently through the podcast.

If you are struggling remember that you never know what’s ahead of you, there might be something wonderful just around the corner. Don’t be afraid to ask for support or help.

  1. You have done so so well Val from those dark days. I remember meeting up with you for coffee and chats as you were going through the motions of living. You’re one strong lady and have enriched many peoples lives through your openness about your struggles.💕💕Thank you.

      1. This is so inspirational.

I agree, we never know of or when anyone is struggling.

However Val this post has the ability to capture within another the similar spark that led you to ask & if others take a chance this can improve & change their lives.

        Fair Play to you

        Celine
