Lucy and Jono gave me a voucher for Castle Dargan Hotel for my birthday back in February, and I finally got around to using it! I love spas and especially ones that have baths and hot tubs outside, there’s something so special about being in a warm bath but being outdoors, watching the birds fly overhead and in the case of Castle Dargan watching the golfers.

I thought that having cakes beside the bath would be a great photo opportunity, and cake and baths are two of my favourite things! I contacted the hotel to see if they could do something like that, and they did, and it was amazing! It was like the sweet version of the afternoon tea there (which by the way is fab, my friend Ann took me along, read about it here).

I had originally wanted a seaweed bath, but that wasn’t possible, so I was asked if a Cleopatra Bath would be OK. The Cleopatra Bath is an Ancient Egyptian Luxurious bathing treatment which consists of dried Calendula, Rose & Lavender flowers. Essential oils and Honeysuckle bathing milk. It was lovely, my skin didn’t feel quite as soft as it would from a seaweed bath, but it was very enjoyable all the same.

When I first visited the spa I did wonder about the change of getting hit by a golf ball when I was in the bath! But it’s just the putting green that is across from the bathing area, and I don’t think that would happen. It is a bit strange having a golfer waving at you though!

There is also a thermal suite and relaxation area that you can use. I didn’t use them, so I can’t tell you what they are like. I was too busy hopping in and out of the bath eating cake 😉 I did see a selection of herbal teas and fruit in the relaxation area, which is a nice touch.

When I went to pay, they only charged for the bath, they said the cakes were complimentary, which was very kind of them and much appreciated. Check out Castle Dargan here.
