I’ve written the post of suggestions of favourite businesses and I thought I should really do my own, although I can’t include every business that I like and use, but these are the ones that I love – in no particular order.
Services
Sligo Credit Union. They have saved me on a couple of occasions, if times are tough you can go to them and you are guaranteed to be greeted by a friendly face and not looked down on. If you aren’t a member I’d highly recommend them, and it’s even better now that they have a debit card, although I tap more than Michael Flatley!
The Mill Pharmacy, Coolaney. Well what can I say about them – just amazing, and no wonder that Hilary won the pharmacist of the year, because she’s mighty.
The Well Pet Hospital. If you have furry friends you need to know them. Caring and compassionate at any hour of the day or night. I have no problem in trusting them to care for the four legged members of the family.
Patrick Murphy Neuromuscular and Physical Therapist. Pa is amazing and has been a huge support to us. If you have aches and pains give him a call.
Siobhan O’Farrell Nutrition. Siobhan was brilliant when I was depressed and not eating properly. She’s a lovely person and will come up with lots of recommendations for whatever ails you.
Computer Repairs and Upgrades. Disclaimer Andy is my husband, but he’s also brilliant at repairing computers, and in some cases he can even fix them remotely – so you don’t even have to leave the house.
Tubbercurry Library. Not sure if you’d count them as a business but I love them. They run events, you can order books, take free online courses, read magazines and newspapers, surf the internet, and so much more.
Kevin Egan Cars. Easy to deal with, friendly service, and great with car valeting. Andy bought his car from them and they were very helpful.
DigiCreativ. Fine art prints, canvases and more. You also get a stunning view over Lough Gill when you pick up your work.
Hair and Beauty Quarter. Muireann is magic when it comes to skin care, she’s also lovely and makes you feel very welcome. Janelle is magic when it comes to hair, and I have a delicate scalp, she doesn’t hurt me and makes going to the hairdresser a pleasure.
Clancy Motors. I bought my car from them, wonderful to deal with, and highly recommended.

Oh where do I start with this one? I know that I’m going to leave someone out, and apologies if I do, but these are the ones I visit most often and ones where I’ve always had a wonderful meal and great service.
Fish and Bean in Rosses Point. Fabulous fish dishes overlooking the Wild Atlantic Way.
Osta Cafe and Osta at The Model. Great coffee and food, down by the river.
Eala Bhan. An elegant setting to enjoy a relaxed lunch or dinner. (Photo above)
Cawley’s Hotel, Tubbercurry. Fabulous food and service with a smile. Check out their afternoon tea (photo above)
Hooked. Quirky interior, funky vibes, and great food.
Tempo in Ballisodare. Cakes to die for, and a fantastic place for breakfast or lunch.
Hearts Desire. Wonderful coffee and always great banter with Tony.
Lyons Cafe. The salad bar! Plus always a great vegetarian offering, and you won’t leave hungry.
Baker Boys. The best mocha in town – according to me, and huge almond croissants.
Blend. Lovely Laura and the team will look after you. They are open early too.
Pasta Fresca, Authentic Italian food for you to enjoy at home.
Pink Clover in Drumcliffe. I just love this place, gorgeous scones and bread made on site every day.
The Jam Pot Cafe in Grange, gorgeous cakes.
Fabios. Award-winning gelato, made in Sligo.
McG Cakes. Take a spin to Ballintogher one weekend to try these amazing cakes. You’ll thank me.
Shells in Strandhill. A bustling seaside cafe, with gorgeous food – check out the fish and chips.
Vintage Lane, Rathcormac. A cosy cafe with something to suit everyone.

Kate’s Kitchen, a bustling food shop in Sligo town. Check out their lunches and heat at home dinners too, they are delicious.
Le Fournil. French bakery, coffee, cakes and chocolates.
The Glasshouse, a great spot for lunch overlooking the river.
Mammy Johnston’s, Strandhill. Wonderful ice cream sundaes.
Pyne’s Preserves. Jams, chutneys, marmalade, and more. Some really quirky flavours too.
Shops
SG Art Shop. I could spend hours here (and usually do). All kinds of everything for those of you interested in arts and crafts.
PK Meats, O’Grady’s and Fresh Today all in Coolaney. Great shops and great customer service too.
The Cat and the Moon. A lovely range of Irish made gifts and a great website that delivers worldwide. Do call to the Hamilton Gallery upstairs too, it’s a wonderful space full of beautiful art.
Liber. Not just a book shop, a wonderful service. They will go out of their way to get you the book you are looking for. You can buy online too.
All Things Natural. Eco-friendly products, including a refill station, holistic gifts and more. Read my blog here.
Gillespies in Tubbercurry. Great for gifts, sports wear, and a very friendly service.
From the Ground Up 2020 in Tubbercurry. A wonderful cafe, so worth a visit.
Essential Seconds Charity Shop in Ballymote. Probably the cheapest charity shop in Sligo.
Made in Sligo. Exactly what it says. A gorgeous range of products, and some lovely gift ideas and homewares.
Shell’s Little Shop, Strandhill. Beautifully curated items for yourself, your loved ones, your home, and your little ones.
Michael Quirke the Woodcarver. Not just a woodcarver, an absolute legend, and well worth a visit.
Cannings. Often overlooked as it’s also a petrol station, but they have some wonderful gifts.
Sligo Office Supplies. The shop with the coloured pencils, based in Finisklin. Very helpful and friendly.
Nice Price. From a needle to a storage box, Nice Price have it. All kinds of everything.
Homeland. Wonderful items including homewares, gardening, clothes, and so much more.
The Weir Gallery, a unique art space in the centre of Sligo town. Find something beautiful and get a chance to talk to the artists.

Treasures Forever by Ann. I’ve ordered loads from Ann, particularly memorial suncatchers, but she also does gorgeous frames, and lucky Irish horseshoes.
Sharlene Kemple Ceramics. Beautiful items made in Sligo. Sharlene is a pure dote too.
Tiedyes by Louise. I love my hoodies and socks that Louise makes.
EBC Branding. I had a couple of ideas and Emer produced them for me. Fast service and great quality items.
Soak Bath Salts. Gorgeous products, bath salts, candles, and more.
Buy the Book. A one-stop-shop for you to support Irish authors.
