A look back at 2023

As we come to the end of 2023 I’m taking a look back at my year, I’m just going to look at the highlights, and not focus on the low points. It’s been quite a rollercoaster of a year, and there have been some great achievements for me. These are in no particular order:

My family have been wonderful as always. I’m blessed to have such a brilliant family, who understand me and support me in everything I do. They know me better than I know myself, and I’m very grateful for them.

The Heart of Ireland Day. I held a day on social media (mainly twitter – X) for people to share their photos and video and tell others about their favourite places in Ireland. The day was a huge success and got a reach of over 17 million! I even got to chat to Dave from Today FM about the idea. See some of the highlights here.

The Heart of Sligo Day. Held on St. Valentine’s Day and giving people the chance to share their love of Sligo. Another hugely successful day, with a reach of over 12 million. See some of the highlights here.

Work. I don’t know where I’d be without Momentum. From the day Orla took a chance on me almost five years ago my life changed so much for the better. After doubting myself and my ability to do anything for so long, Orla gave me the wings and let me fly. Forever grateful.

An award. Winning the Sockies – Social Media Award for the Heart of Sligo Campaign. This was huge for me and I was beyond delighted. My inner Beyonce took over and I’ve not quite recovered from it! Read more here.

The Hands of Sligo Project. Over three months this year I got to meet so many incredible people and hear their stories. It was wonderful to be involved in something so creative and I discovered my love of photography again and also a love of voice recordings. There’s such power in both. Read more about the project here.

The Shop Sligo Campaign. It was a pleasure to work alongside some of the Sligo businesses and I’m very grateful for the businesses who supported me and took part. Read the gift guide here.

Sligo Women in Business. This year has been a year where I’ve pretty much kept myself to myself, but Fran and Maeve took over Sligo Women in Business and started hosting morning meetings, so I went along to a couple of them, and I loved it. The group is very welcoming and supportive and if you are a woman in business in Sligo, or if you are thinking about starting your own business, I’d encourage you to attend a meeting. Check out their website.

I think that’s about it for my highlights, although I’m sure as soon as I press publish that I’ll think of something else. I have no plans for 2024, I’m just going to go with the flow and see what happens. I’d love to do another creative project though, but we’ll see what opportunities come my way. Thanks as always for reading.
