Do you ever go to a place where you feel at ease immediately? A place where you exhale as soon as you arrive and feel totally at peace? That happened to me when I visited the Cabragh Lodge Centre for Inner and Interpersonal Wellness in Coolaney, Sligo.

You may know that I live in Coolaney, and I’ve often looked up at the white house high in the mountains and wondered about it. I knew it was the Cabragh Lodge Centre for Inner and Interpersonal Wellness and I’ve seen a few of my photos shared onto the Facebook page, so eventually I plucked up the courage and sent an email to ask if I could visit to see what they do and write a blog post. Fiona, who owns the lodge, invited me over and I loved meeting her and of course I talked too much (story of my life!).

The Cabragh Lodge Centre is a real hidden gem and a little bit of heaven. Coolaney is a beautiful place anyway, but imagine staying a night or two in the heart of the Ox Mountains, overlooking Knocknashee (the Hill of the Fairies – featured photo on this blog). The centre has four gorgeous self-contained, 2 bedroom, en-suite, eco cabins, each one is surrounded by trees and you will feel secluded and sheltered. Each cabin is named after a townland in the area, which is a lovely touch.

The cabins are warm and welcoming and they would be a wonderful base for you to explore Sligo, they are also very close to the Ladies Brae ( the photo above was taken there), it’s a perfect place for walking and cycling – and they are close to the National Mountain Bike Centre too.

Fiona hosts various workshops, retreats and classes at the centre, including yoga, mindfulness and sound baths. The sound baths use planetary gongs – which means they are tuned to the frequencies of the stars, constellations and planets in our solar system, it’s all very fascinating, and they sound beautiful. If you’d like to find out more about Cabragh Lodge, you can find them on Facebook and the website is here.
Thanks so much Fiona for being so lovely and showing me around. You can watch the video below to see more of Cabragh Lodge.
