Sunday Thoughts

It seems like ages since I’ve done one of these blog posts, it’s been a busy time. I’ve found myself going out and about with the camera a bit more, which is quite unusual as I have a bit of a love hate relationship with it. I love bluebells though, so it’s encouraged me to go out exploring, and I love exploring, you never know what you will see.

It’s going to be a busy month, I’m in the final of two awards – the Sockies which take place on May 11th and the Digital Town Awards – May 24th. I’m looking forward to the ceremonies, and it’s a huge step for me, I’ve been in the final of the Sockies for the last three years and I’ve never attended the event due to anxiety, but this time I’m doing to push myself. I’ve started dreaming about them – in my dream I turned up to the awards in a green sequined dress – I looked like an unfit mermaid! It was so vivid that I woke up exhausted.

I’ve spoken to a lot of people in recent weeks, and I find that quite tough at times, I can take on other people’s problems and worry about them. I feel like I’ve brushed past one of those plants with the little sticky things that attach themselves to your clothes. I come home feeling like I’m covered in the thoughts of others. That probably sounds really weird, but it’s the only way I can describe it. I used to be quite good at letting things wash over me, and I need to go back to that if I can.

I’m still painting, I’ve gone back to using water-based oil paints. They are great for blending and because they take so long to dry it forces me to slow down, which isn’t a bad thing. I was flying through the watercolour paintings and there are bits of paper everywhere. I’m now going over old acrylic paintings with oil and I’m enjoying it, painting is very much my form of mindfulness.

There were a couple of radio appearances, the most recent was on the Friday Panel on Ocean FM, you can listen back here. I love being on radio and part of me misses my show on BCRFM, although it was a lot of work to do it on such a regular basis, it’s great to see people still listening to my old shows though – you can find them here. I keep toying with the idea of a podcast, I like talking – when I’m in the mood, and I can get fairly animated on certain subjects – that doesn’t come across so much in my writing.

I hope you are all keeping well, drop me a comment if you’ve read this, and thanks for reading.

You are gifted, creative and a very compassionate soul. Sometimes that isn’t easy. It’s a blessing and a curse.

Best Wishes on your award ceremonies. Do you see that you’ve already won?
