The Cloonamahon Native Woodland Park, Sligo

I saw a post recently on the Collooney Greenway Support Group about the Cloonamahon Woodland Park in Sligo and I decided to go and have a look for myself. The park is fairly new but it’s a lovely walk even as it is at the moment.

Western Forestry Co-op hosted a series of Open Days in November 2022 to tell people more about the recently established 40-hectare HSE Cloonamahon Native Woodland Park. They have a series of videos so that you can find out more about the different elements of the park: https://westernforestrycoop.ie/hse-cloonamahon-native-woodland-park/

There are a series of looped walks and maps to tell you more about them. It wasn’t the nicest day when I went so I didn’t do the longer walks.

The playground is gorgeous and the views from there are lovely too.

I look forward to following the progress of the park in the coming years, it’s wonderful to see something of this scale on this side of the county.
