It’s been a busy few days, Jono had his birthday on Friday and yesterday it was Andy’s birthday and also our wedding anniversary. We’ve been married for 31 years, which have flown! It seems like only a few weeks ago that I looked like a demented hamster wearing a giant meringue. 😉

We went to Strandhill and it was good timing because places are now open for outdoor dining. We had lunch at The Strand Pub and I was so impressed with how organised they were considering they only reopened on Monday.

The service was fantastic and so was the food. It’s so lovely, and a real novelty, to have food on real plates. The portion sizes were brilliant too. The Strand have their tables undercover, but just bear in mind you are close to the sea so it can get chilly.

There’s always room for dessert though – well there is in my case. So we crossed the road to Mammy Johnston’s and had sundaes, they are amazing but very filling, although I almost finished all of mine. Mammy Johnston’s have a good few benches outdoors and they also have little huts which are great to keep you sheltered from the wind.

After all that food we took a walk down by the sea, it was the perfect way to finish a special day.

What a grand day you must have had. The food looked great, the weather was fair to nice and the company I’m sure was lovely. Now I an more rearing to get back to the land I love and where my heart will always be. Thank you for the great pictures. Hope to meet you and Andy in the near future. Your friend in Ohio, Jack
