I went to a book launch and reading today in King House, Boyle. If I’m being honest, and you know me and honesty, I don’t usually like readings. I usually have the attention span of a child with ADHD. This reading was different.
Louise G Cole has a way with words. Not just writing them but also reading them. I could see the grey heron with his sharp beak and beady eyes. I could smell the nursing home and see the old lady spill her tea.
I was spellbound listening to Louise as she brought her poetry to life. It’s no surprise to me that this talented lady won the 2018 Hennessy Award for Emerging Poetry.
When the reading was over I queued with other fans to buy the book. When I got home the first page that opened was on a poem called Unresolved. This one spoke reams to me. I’m not going to tell you what it’s about because you’ll have to read it for yourself.
You can find out more about Louise and read her blog here: louisegcolewriter.wordpress.com and I’m sure you can buy the book directly from her too. Well done Louise and continued success.
