This is a blog post I should have written a couple of months ago but better late than never!
Lucy had to do her exams in Castlebar so I took her over one day and decided to go exploring while she was slaving over an exam paper. First of all I had a wander around the Breaffy House Resort. The grounds are really beautiful, well worth a visit.
It started to rain so I went into the hotel for a cuppa and sure a drink is too wet on its own so I asked for a scone. I was delighted when it arrived with cream as well – such a treat!
After my cream tea I headed into town and had a look around the town. There are brilliant charity shops there and I got 10 books for €3! Bargain! Mind you I still can’t find a book I like yet! It’s been months since I’ve been hooked on a book – so if you’ve any suggestions let me know.
When Lucy finished her exam when we went for lunch. We headed to The Olive Tree, Lucy had been there before and said it was lovely. She wasn’t wrong, it was really fabulous. The photos don’t do it justice because it’s quite dark in there. If you are vegan, vegetarian or coeliac the restaurant will cater for you as well. I would definitely go back there again.
So that was my couple of hours in Castlebar. It’s a lovely town, great shops, friendly people and well worth a visit.
amazing! Castlebar is a lovely town 😀
