So it’s the end of one season and the beginning of another, even though Summer never really made an appearance. I like Autumn though, even though the days are shorter and there’s a bit of a nip in the air it’s a beautiful season. With new seasons come changes, some for good, others not so good but all for a reason. So we’ll wait to see what this autumn brings and maybe a new leaf will be turned over too (pun intended). In the meantime we’ll hang on in there.
I want to visit the Sligo famine memorials in October, but can’t find the addresses. Can you help me. Thanks so much!! Mary Laukaitis
The Famine Graveyard is on the Clarion Road beside St. Edward’s School. If that entrance is closed you can go through St. John’s hospital. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Saint+Edward's+National+School,+Clarion+Road,+Sligo/@54.2808514,-8.4680137,17z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x485ee846372842a7:0xb00cfc6635594f15
There is also a famine memorial statue in Quay Street – opposite The Harp Tavern pub.
