Langs Bar and Restaurant, Grange

LangsOn Friday night we were invited along to Langs Bar and Restaurant in Grange, Co. Sligo to try out their restaurant. I’d heard great things about the food but had never actually tried it so it was a real treat for myself and himself to head out there.

IMG_1740It’s really quite deceiving because it looks quite small on the outside but it’s quite a big place when you go in there. I had thought the bar and restaurant would be combined but I was glad to find that it wasn’t. The restaurant is very cosy and homely and the staff were friendly and welcoming.

Prawn cocktailWe weren’t going to have a starter but the waitress told us all the food was cooked to order and as my main course was going to take a while to cook we decided to share a prawn cocktail. It was a really lovely and a huge portion so just as well we shared.

Steak SpecialFriday night is ‘Steak Special’ night at Langs. For €20 you get steak, served on a bed of saute mushrooms and onions with onion rings and a choice of chips, mashed potatoes, jacket potatoes or garlic and cheese potatoes plus a sauce of your choice and either a glass of wine or a pint. Andy went for the steak special and wasn’t disappointed, it really was lovely. I had a sip of his wine and it was delicious, I meant to ask what it was but I forgot!

Stuffed chicken filletI had a chicken fillet stuffed with bacon, red onion and fresh herbs covered in a mushroom and fresh thyme sauce. It was the biggest chicken fillet I’ve ever seen! It was served with a side order of my choice so I picked garlic and cheese potatoes which were lovely. We were both so full up after our main courses that we didn’t order desserts and I’ve seen they serve banoffi pie which is my favourite so we’ll have to go back again and next time I’ll leave room for it.

Thanks so much to Marie for arranging this lovely treat for us and to Langs for the great food. I’m hungry now after looking at the photos!!

  1. They have plenty of great food! My fav Lang’s main course is Chicken Toscana. It’s chicken fillet stuffed with goats cheese and sundried tomatoes. Simple but amazing taste. My husband is a real fan of Friday Steak Special. They also served lovely fishes dishes.
Good to know you had so nice evening in our village!
