The So Sligo Food and Cultural Festival kicked off in style last night with a Pop Up Brazil night in the Hawk’s Well Theatre. We had some fabulous food made by StreetCart and a great night was had by all and this is only the beginning.
There is so much more to look forward to during the festival including seaweed walks, the wild food experience, learning all about fermentation, a food village and so much more. You can find out all the information on the website.
We are so lucky in Sligo to have some amazing restaurants, coffee shops and gastro pubs and during the festival the food trail will be taking place. This will consist of various establishments in Sligo town serving tapas sized house specialities for €5 each. I’m hoping to have one of each 😉
The World Irish Stew Championships will take place on Sunday 15th, 12 noon in the Food Village. Everyone can enter, all you have to do is bring along two portions of home-made stew (you can heat it up and serve it at the food village). So get cooking and see if you have what it takes to be crowned the Champ? bit.ly/stewchamps
Rachel Allen will be appearing in the Hawk’s Well Theatre on Saturday 14th and tickets are going fast so don’t miss out.
There are also events for the children including pizza making and cookie making. It’s shaping up to be a great event and this week Sligo will also celebrate Yeats Day.
