Over the weekend I went to Manchester with Jono. I will do a proper blog about that later but when I was looking at the Manchester Facebook page someone had suggested that visitors might like to check out the 1940s weekend at the East Lancashire Railway.
I’m a real train fan and when I found out there were steam trains running I had to go and check it out. I arrived at Bury Bolton Street Station and it was just like stepping back in time.
So many people dressed up as if they were in the 1940s and there were so many things to see and do.
I went on the steam train and there were characters from ‘Allo ‘Allo walking up and down the train and talking to people, it was hilarious!!
At the stations there were people singing and even on the train there was a sing-song.
All ages took part in the event, it was brilliant to see families dressed up and if you didn’t have anything suitable there were plenty of things for sale if you wanted to join in.
After wandering around the stations I went over the Bury Transport Museum where there was dancing and entertainment. It really was a lovely atmospheric day and I’m hoping to come back again next year and see the rest of the things I missed. The rest of my photos are here.
