Makes me think of the Ralph McTell song, “Streets of London” . . .
Yes it’s very much like that.
That is such a haunting but all too shockingly real – or should that be surreal – sight. Not to mention heartbreaking. All we can do is to help in any way we can. But sadly, even then, it’s never enough…they need so much more…and this is where not only community/NGO help comes in, but also, on a much larger scale, help from as many governmental agencies as possible, Why is it that certain strata of society gets big bail-outs, while there are still so many who are in such desperate need, but cannot find or get or receive help? Why?
I heard from someone locally that a homeless person in Sligo was offered help and turned it down, so I really don’t know what the story is.
