Last night I went along to the town hall in Sligo for the launch of Sligo being the European town of sport for 2014. There was a great crowd there, from all kinds of sports in Sligo.
Minister Michael Ring was invited and did a really good speech praising all the good things we have in Sligo (and he’s right!) Mayor Marcella McGarry presented Minister Ring with something to remind him of Sligo.
I was there with the Sionnach Relay Series who will be running Ireland’s First Fun Overnight Relay Race covering over 170 miles (274 Km) in Sligo Ireland July 26-27 2014.
Kieran Quinn and friends provided the music and there was a great atmosphere at the launch. There are lots of great sporting events taking place this year in Sligo and I look forward to attending them. Check out the brilliant video below.
