I should have done this post yesterday so a belated Happy New Year to you all. This is the first Christmas where I haven’t got ‘cabin fever’ from not going out and I’ve actually enjoyed lazing around the house. Mind you I do have a project on the go that has kept me busy (more about that later). I did get out and about taking photos yesterday though as I had to pick up Lucy and thought I’d take some photos on the way. The photo above and the two below are from the Holy Well, Sligo.
I stopped off at the Holy Well to light a candle for someone I lost last year. They had a great life and did everything they wanted so it’s more of a celebration of their life.
After my visit to the Holy Well I headed to Slish Wood but it was raining so I only got one photo from there. I was really surprised how many cars were there, New Year’s Day here just seems like another day for most people. A few of the shops in Sligo were open too.
After my quick photo at Slish Wood I went to Innisfree, the sky was really too grey to get a good photo but I did get a photo with my phone of the ‘Sleeping Warrior’.
Next it was on to Dromahair, Co. Leitrim and the River Bonet. Apologies for the amount of water shots in this blog!
The last photo for this blog is one I took today. I was driving along and had to pull over to take this one, I love the expression on the horses face.
Oh and I nearly forgot. Pixie the Irish photo sharing site put one of my photos in their top 50 of 2013!! I’m delighted! What a great start to the new year.

I thought the horse was a llama for a second. A beautiful start to the New Year.
Happy 2014, Val! Thank you for sharing these amazing photos with us. This horse’s look is awesome. 🙂
Congratulations – being in the top 50 is well deserved, Val.
Happy New Year Val ! Your photos are amazing. Love the expression on the horse face, Congrats on being in the top 50 🙂
Happy new year to you too!
And congratulations for being in the top 50.
Seeing a photo of the holy well in Sligo brings back great memories of years ago when I visited the holy well myself, thanks for that.
These evocative photos have helped to get my new year off to a great start, and congratulations on being in Pixie’s Top 50! Wishing you many more awards and accolades (and renumeration!) in 2014.
A bit late, but the wish is the same – here’s to a very happy, healthy and hopeful 2014. Wonderful photographs capturing the beauty that’s all around us – all deserving of the awards and praise, with many more to come over the year.
A belated happy new year to you too Val, hope 2014 brings plenty of good experiences for you x
