Keash has gone green

Caves of KeashLast night was a great night as we headed to Keash for an evening of song and craic and to see the caves going green for St. Patrick’s weekend.

The ChurchKeash is a lovely place. It’s located between Ballymote and Boyle. The thing that struck me most is as well as the caves being magnificent, the people were really friendly and welcoming.

ClaireClaire started off the evening’s entertainment with her beautiful singing. It was lovely to hear her playing the harp. Claire is from Carrowcrory Cottage, a place which sounds great and I’m hoping to get there soon and will blog about it.

We were told all about the history of Keash and the evening was also the launch of their website. You can read all about the history and other information here.

After refreshments we all got on to a bus that took us from the White Hall to the caves….well we got on the first bus which took us halfway to the caves and we had to walk down a dark lane for the rest of it….but it was hilarious. We couldn’t see a thing and just sort of stumbled down the lane!

CavesGreen caves We had a count down and the caves were lit up. It took a little while for them to turn green though so about ten minutes after they were switched on the crowd at the other end of the road cheered! I think they look great though. Well done to all involved in the evening, we really enjoyed it.

If you are anywhere near Sligo be sure to visit Keash. A lovely, welcoming place, steeped in history.
