Yesterday we went to Clevery Mill, Castlebaldwin with some friends for dinner. We’d never been there before so didn’t know what to expect. The mill is beautiful, it’s been restored to a really high standard with great attention to detail.
The restaurant is cosy and homely. As you walk in you are greeted by the friendly host and a wonderful log fire.
The photos aren’t the best because they were taken on my phone, but it’ll give you an idea.
I had the set four course menu which was 24.95. There was a small portion of soup to start, followed by a choice of starter, main course and dessert. I had the garlic mushroom vol-au-vent to start with.
This was followed by the Thai chicken curry which was gorgeous. All the main courses also came with vegetables.
Andy and the kids had steak served on a hot stone, so basically you cook it yourself. I’m not a fan of steak but I tried some of Lucy’s and it was fabulous.
Our friend had the fish which also looked lovely. There were good-sized portions and the atmosphere was very relaxed.
For dessert we had macaroon tart and white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake. Both were served with ice cream. It was all delicious. You can read more about the restaurant here.
After the meal you can relax again in the bar by the fire. All in all I would highly recommend Clevery Mills. It’s a beautiful place, very atmospheric and the food is fantastic.

Beautiful, and the food looks so delicious!
Thanks š It was lovely š
The steak looks a bit rare for me but I am drooling over the garlic mushroom vol-au-vent. Thanks for sharing.

The steak cooks as it sits on the hot stone, it’s a great idea.
