Following on from my other blog post about The Mill Apartment, Ballisodare. I went back again today in the company of Sarah, who writes ‘Derelict Nation’.
We took some more photos and had a look around the place. I really can’t begin to describe how I felt looking at the apartments. It really sent shivers down my spine, the destruction that has been done to them.
I found some brochures for The Mill and these are a couple of excerpts from it.
It definitely is not run of the mill.
According to the brochure there is ample room for parking.
Every apartment has its own post box.
These apartments are not secured in any way. The doors are all wide open or smashed, as are most of the windows. Anyone can just walk in off the street. There are no ‘keep out’ signs.
There are more photos on flickr.
My God that is awful on so many levels.
It was really awful, so sad.
Totally shocking devastation. Words fail me at such a sight. Well done for doing the piece.
Thanks, it was so horrific, that’s the only way I can describe it. The photos really don’t do it justice.
Is there anything being done about this Val? Is it privately owned or council?
It’s privately owned, but no one seems to be taking responsibilty Michelle. The council are now going to board it up.
It is sad to see how this fine development could be is such a mess. We hear about many people homeless in the country, these apartments could have housed many of those from the north west!
That’s exactly how I feel about it Mary.
