Happy March 1st 🙂 It was a lovely day here today after the fog and frost cleared this morning.
Thank you all for your comments yesterday and your suggestions. We have to go to a meeting on Monday afternoon so we’ll see what the outcome of that will be. Some of you got in touch about Jono doing a training course at home. What we really want is for him to socialise and hopefully make new friends which he wouldn’t be able to do if he was at home. Anyway we’ll see what happens on Monday.
What I didn’t get a chance to tell you was that I had to go for a brain scan yesterday. I get really bad headaches every now and again. The doctor wanted to check that there was no underlying cause. I had already had a sinus x-ray which I’m guessing came back clear because the next thing I know I got this brain scan appointment through.
Anyway the appointment was quite early in the morning. I had phoned to try to change the time but was told it had to be done at that time. In I go after dropping Lucy to school, only to find the scanner was broken! The hospital had been trying to phone our old home number to let me know. Then they finally phoned the new number but I had already left the house. So what a wasted journey that was.
I also didn’t get to tell you about the rest of our Dublin trip. We had to stay in a different hotel to normal. It wasn’t in a great area. In fact when we first arrived it was like something from a movie. With police sirens going, kids shouting and a cracked window in our bedroom.
There were quite a few problems as well. Including all the drunks on the luas when we were coming back to the hotel from the O2. Needless to say we won’t be staying there again.
On the positive side we had lunch in Jimmy Chungs which we’d never been to before and it was lovely. It’s a Chinese buffet. You can eat as much as you like, there was loads to choose from including a whippy ice cream machine and you just help yourself 🙂
We got to have a look around Dublin. Lucy loves Forever 21 and Jono loves Marks Models. I don’t like shopping at all but I like to see all the character’s in Dublin. Especially the mime artists and buskers. This man below was pretending to be rushing but he wasn’t moving at all. Very clever idea. Edited to add if you look to the right of the man you will spot Ryan Tubridy! I only noticed last week (April 2012).

Hi Val,
that’s a great photo!!
I’ll email you, xxx
Thanks Elaine xx
Hey Val!
maybe the Doc just wants to make sure there is a brain!!!! Sorry couldn’t resist!!
On a serious note I hope all is well with the scan and I am sure it is just to rule things out rather than anything else.
Thats a great shot to the rushing man! I have seen him about but never took a pic! What hotel was it? Not in smithfield by any chance?
Be well
Greg
Hi Greg,
I thought the same about the brain scan 😉 Not sure when I’m having it now. I suppose they have to wait until the machine is working.
I love the rushing man, such a great expression on his face and so unusual as well 🙂 and yes the hotel was in Smithfield, The Maldron….never again.
Take care,
Val
Hi Val
Greg stole my line there! Hope the appointment is soon re-arranged as that’s not the sort of thing you want to have hanging around. You want to get it out of the way and have your mind put at rest. It’s good that the medics are being thorough, but there are so many other causes of headaches.

Hi Stella,
Thanks 🙂 I was saying the same on twitter, my brain went missing long ago 🙂
Take care,
Val
