Knobs

I know the door photo is a bit random but it’s the only photo of a knob that I had 😉

Today I took Andy’s car Christine for her NCT. The NCT is the national car test. It’s just to check that the car is roadworthy so I guess it’s a good thing. We were out in gale-force winds yesterday polishing her to within an inch of her life. Andy loves the car but I call her Christine because she hates me. On several occasions she has tried to strangle me with her seatbelt.

Anyway off I went to the NCT. First of all there appeared to be a family outing going on with a clatter of kids playing in the entrance to the test centre. I managed to avoid them and parked Christine.

Off I went into the waiting room, handed in the details, paid my 50 euro and waited. It’s really nerve-wracking you can see through the window to where the cars are being tested. I imagine it’s like being an expectant father waiting for your baby to be born (in the old days). Matters weren’t helped by the guy next to me jiggling about in his seat, my bladder was jumping around like a mad thing!

After about twenty minutes Christine was driven out. She failed 😦 On a mis-aligned headlight and a broken knob. Isn’t it a bugger when your knob breaks! I took her straight across the road and got the headlight sorted then I managed to get a new knob (oo-er missus!) this afternoon from a local garage. So now I have to book a re-test within the next three weeks. Which will cost 28 euro. Hopefully the car will pass this time.

In the meantime have a look at this video (I named Christine after this film).

  1. Christ – I knew something was going to happen at the end of that clip but I still jumped! I remember watching it when it first came out – it was on here at the weekend but I wasn’t tempted to watch it again!
Glad you got Andys knob sorted!x
