It’s my mum’s birthday on Tuesday so we had her over for dinner today. I had a huge slab of beef that I won in the hamper and had been in the freezer, so I spent most of the day cooking. It actually felt like Christmas.
The animals weren’t impressed with my cooking and spent the morning asleep:
I saw a recipe during the week for cheesecake on Yeats Country Foods facebook page. It looked easy so I thought I’d give it a try. I’m really pleased with the result and it’s tastes lovely too:
Mum had her birthday cake after we went for a walk. I call it a cake but to be honest it turned out more like a biscuit. For some reason it didn’t rise (story of my life!) I thought I’d better not out 75 candles on the cake so I just put 5 on it.
I have to share this fantastic video of Sligo with you. If you aren’t sure about coming to Sligo on holiday have a look at this, I’m sure this will make you come and visit.
The cheesecake looks delicious Val! It’s a pity you’re not living closer to Clonmel. 😉
I’ve had a problem with cakes rising lately too. I don’t think they make self raising flour like they used to…..or ovens either. It can’t be BOTH our faults.
You mam doesn’t look 75. I hope she had a lovely day and doesn’t go too mad on Tuesday. 🙂
Thanks Susan.
I can make a black forest gateau and it rises! The oven must know when I’m making a birthday cake!
Oh! Happy Birthday to you. A wonderful image of a beautiful lady.
Thanks Micky 🙂
Excellent video!! makes me feel lazy!

“For some reason it didn’t rise (story of my life!)” Oooo errr missus!!! Sounds naughty!
You got the meaning 😉
