Scouting for Girls

I love music and especially live shows. When I was a young thing I went to see loads of bands including Magnum, ACDC, Alice Cooper, Meatloaf and The Monkees.

Anyway Scouting for Girls came to Castlebar yesterday. On Friday I noticed the Royal Theatre had a competition for tickets so I entered…..and won 😀  Lucy and Jono both wanted to come with me so I bought another ticket and off we all went.

I like the Royal Theatre, it’s a great venue. We arrived early and we saw Greg and Pete from Scouting for Girls outside so we got to say hello to them.

Whilst we were waiting I was amazed to see some girls in very short skirts….well there’s short and short but these ones didn’t even cover their modesty! Also a couple of girls had soothers in their mouths, I’m puzzled by that. There were all age groups and for once I wasn’t the oldest person there.

First on stage was the support act: Fox Avenue who were really good. We enjoyed them, I hope they do well.

Then came Scouting for Girls, who were brilliant. A really great live band. They played for around an hour and a half. I did a short bit of video here…it’s very distorted because we were right in front of a speaker.

Lot’s of pairs of knickers were thrown on the stage too….nothing to do with me 😉

There are a lot more photos on pix.ie

After the concert the kids were starving, so we went to the McDonalds drive thru which is just across the road from the theatre. As we were driving home it started pouring with rain. I ended up missing my turn home and what should have been a 50 minute journey turned into two hours! It also wasn’t helped by all the frogs which decided to go for a walk! The rain must have bought them out.

Anyway I’m suffering today from a really bad head and a whistling left ear….it does me good to go out doesn’t it.

  1. Not heard of Scouting for Girls but The Monkees rang a bell…very loudly! It was the only TV programe that we could watch as kids when we lived abroad. I was in love with Davey Jones until I was about 9!

  2. My office is under the Royal Theatre!! I often get to chat too bands and roadies as the backstage and the back door to my office are beside each other! When they pop out for a sneaky fag during rehersals I bump into them!

Did you miss the turn off for Charlestown? I often do that and end up halfway to Dublin before I remember where I am supposed to be going!!!

Fiar play to Jono for treking up knocknarea. I have to go back up there with the camera some day. Didn’t get to enjoy it much last time I was up!!!!
