If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, make your way to Queen Maeve Square because the Taste of Sligo Food Festival is back on Saturday and Sunday.
Now in its third year, the festival has quickly become one of the highlights of the summer in Sligo, bringing together some of the best food producers, chefs and businesses from across the county and beyond.
Whether you’re a serious foodie or just enjoy good food and a wander around the stalls, there’s plenty to see and do over the two days.
You can expect:
- Artisan food and drink producers
- Live cookery demonstrations from well-known chefs – I’m especially looking forward to Chef Shane Smith – who recently released a book, and Masha Campbell (who makes amazing cakes for The Cottage Restaurant and My Kitchen by Sham Hanifa)
- Live music throughout the weekend
- A dedicated family area with children’s cookery activities
- Plenty of opportunities to discover new local producers and flavours.

It’s a great excuse to spend a few hours in Sligo town. Grab a coffee, have a wander around the stalls, sample something you’ve never tried before and maybe even pick up a few treats to bring home.
The festival takes place in Queen Maeve Square on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th July. Entry is just €5, with under 12s admitted free, making it an affordable day out for families too. You can buy tickets online, or at the gate.
