Sunday Thoughts

The Irish Twitter family lost one of the good guys last night. I know there’s a lot of hate out there for twitter, but there is also a strong Irish community. People who you might not have met in real life, but you have made connections with, people who look out for each other. Alan was one of those people, and his loss will leave a huge gap.

Even though Alan wasn’t well, he always had time for his twitter family. He always asked how everyone was, even though he was going through such a difficult time. Alan was always so positive, even up to the very end.

What I’m hoping for with this blog post, and what Alan was encouraging people to do, was not to ignore any symptoms that you might have. Bowel cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in Ireland. You can read more about the symptoms here: https://www2.hse.ie/conditions/bowel-cancer/ Please visit your GP is you have any concerns.

Alan recorded a podcast with Ruth Medjber recently, where he talks candidly about his life: https://www.sinscealeile.com/365-portraits/365-mas3n-755hy-cre3g-zzze2-wzmsf-z4czh-jcpwm-2j7eh-edwja-zprm2-w99zc-8wnn6

Alan was a wonderful photographer, and I think Maureen’s words are so fitting: “The camera lens is closed..the memories remain.”

May Alan rest in peace. His stoic attitude was nothing short of inspirational. Sincere condolences to his wife, his children, his extended family, and his many friends.

You can support Alan’s family here: https://www.idonate.ie/crowdfunder/helpalanlacasseandfamily The fundraiser will remain open until May 8th.
