Top Relaxation Experiences in Sligo and Beyond

I’ve decided to write a blog post about some of my favourite relaxation experiences. I always feel like I’ve been on a holiday whenever I do something like this, and it doesn’t happen half enough.

Sligo

Voya Seaweed Baths. I always love going for a seaweed bath, and Voya is in Strandhill, so it’s very close to me, it’s also a great to treat yourself before or after in one of the many places to eat. I’ve been known to celebrate my birthday with breakfast in Shells, a walk along the beach, a seaweed bath in Voya, and an ice cream sundae in Mammy Johnston’s. If you are looking for something extra special, book one of the suites in Voya, I did this with Lucy last year – photo above. Find Voya online: https://www.voyaseaweedbaths.com/

Kilcullen seaweed baths in Enniscrone. This is like stepping back in time, as the baths first opened in 1912. Enniscrone is a lovely place to visit; miles of sandy beach to walk along, friendly people, and a looped walk. It’s also a very popular spot for sea swimmers. Check them out Kilcullen Seaweed Baths here: https://www.kilcullenseaweedbaths.net/

Still in Enniscrone, and this time it’s The Ocean Sands Hotel and Spa. I really like the spa here, they have a wonderful thermal suite including a hot tub, sauna, and I see that the salt cave therapy has opened now, that wasn’t open the last time I was there. I usually go for an aromatherapy bath and always enjoy it. Find out more about the spa here: https://theoceansandshotel.ie/spa/

The Icon Spa is at Castle Dargan. I went there for a Cleopatra Bath; this is an Ancient Egyptian Luxurious bathing treatment which consists of dried Calendula, Rose & Lavender flowers, essential oils and Honeysuckle bathing milk. The outdoor baths and the Jacuzzi overlook the golf course (and I haven’t been hit by a golf ball yet!). Find out more about the spa here: https://castledargan.com/spa/

Sauna Sásta is on my ‘to do’ list. I was given a voucher for Christmas, so I will get there soon. It’s over-looking Dunmoran Strand in Sligo. This is lovely beach, and also a popular place for swimmers. Find Sauna Sásta online: https://saunasasta.ie/ Pic via Sauna Sásta.

Pranic Healing at Oxyzone Sligo. This was such a lovely experience, and I’ve written and in-depth post about it here: https://magnumlady.com/2025/12/10/pranic-healing-with-anna-from-oxyzone-sligo/

Enjoy a gentle adventure with Sligo Kayak Tours. They have different tours available, I’ve done the one across Lough Gill to Hazelwood, it was really lovely and you get to have a coffee and a break at Hazelwood before paddling back. Find them here: https://sligokayaktours.com/

Wild Wet Adventures is based at Temple House, Sligo, and I enjoyed a wonderful dawn paddle with them a few years ago. John and Celine are such lovely people, and you are guaranteed a wonderful experience, and the chance to explore Temple House Lake. Contact Wild Wet Adventures via Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/WildWetAdventures

Explore the Wild Atlantic Way on a stand-up paddle board – although in my case I spent more time in the ocean! Harbour SUP is based in Enniscrone, Sligo, and also offers stand-up paddling on the River Moy in Ballina. Find them on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Harboursup

Leitrim

You can enjoy an actual forest bathing experience in Leitrim Village. The Wellbeing Sanctuary is an outdoor spa nestled in the walled gardens of the Drumhierny Woodland Hideaway. I went for an Aroma Therapy Bath and it was wonderful! There are other experiences available too, including massage, sauna, etc. Read the full blog post here: https://magnumlady.com/2024/02/20/forest-bathing-in-leitrim-the-wellbeing-sanctuary-at-drumhierny-woodland-hideaway/

Leitrim is home to the Blueway, and I’ve explored part of this in a canoe with Adventure Gently. It was some years ago now and Adventure Gently has new owners, you can find out more here: https://www.adventuregentlyireland.com/

Mayo

The Ice House in Ballina have outdoor baths overlooking the River Moy. Choose from a jacuzzi, seaweed, or warmed spice mud bath. It’s a lovely way to relax and spend some time. It’s very close to Ballina town too, so you can have a mooch around the shops, or go for an explore at Belleek Woods. Find out more info on The Ice House Spa on their website: https://www.icehousehotel.ie/spa/

I went on a kayak trip with Paddle and Pedal, and got to see Ballina from a different angle, as I kayaked down the River Moy, what an amazing experience! Find out more here: https://www.paddleandpedal.ie/

Fermanagh

I haven’t done this one, but I’ve heard so many good things about it. FinnLough Spa in Fermanagh. The Elements Trail is a self-guided experience offering a private two-hour trail. From what I’ve heard you move through the different spa experiences, and get to experience nature along the way.  https://www.finnlough.com/spa

It’s a good idea to check with each experience to see what you need to bring along with you. Let me know if there’s any that you’d recommend.
