There has been a lot happening in Sligo as far as food goes. I’ll cover all the things that I know about on this blog post.
Some new places have opened in Sligo town. I haven’t been to any of them yet, but I’ll let you know when if I do visit.
Ibby’s Kitchen opened last month. They are where St. Honoré/ Molly’s Diner was, just down from Thomas Connolly’s Pub on Markievicz Road. Their tagline is where Grill meets Indian spice. Find them on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61578017584035
Sillan Bakes opened last week. Find them on The Mall, Sligo, opposite The Model. They are open during the day, so you can expect breakfast, lunch and treats. They also have some gluten-free options available. If you visited Strandhill People’s Market, or Sligo Farmer’s Market, you would know Antonio.
Esquires Coffee opened on O’Connell Street, Sligo. They are in the Bridgefoot House premises, next to Eason. Open for breakfast, lunch, coffee and cakes.
Taste of Sligo Food Festival returns to Queen Maeve Square, Sligo town. Celebrity chef demonstrations, live music, food stalls, and more. This is a weekend event and is on from September 19th – 21st. Pasta Fresca will be taking a break of a few weeks from the 14th of September, so be sure to stock up this week. I often freeze lasagnes and ragu from there, and they are always perfect.
Walker 1781 in Sligo town has just launched Vegan and Vegetarian menus. I don’t see it on their website, but it’s on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Walker1781
The Chef’s Table at The Ocean Sands Hotel in Enniscrone, brings together eight delicate courses created using the freshest of local ingredients to create a culinary experience you will never forget. This special event is taking place on the 13th and the 19th of September. Pre-booking essential: 096-26700
