Sunday Thoughts

Here we are again, another Sunday, we are back to the grey skies, and a little bit of rain, but wow what a stunning couple of weeks we’ve had. Blue skies and sunshine, and it was wonderful! What wasn’t so wonderful was that I had a cold for most of last week, so I wasn’t able to get out much and enjoy it.

I made up for it on Friday and ended up going on the Lough Talt Loop Walk, which was way longer than I expected, I should do my research before I head off. I will write about that on another blog post, because it was a bit of an adventure!

I also found some of the Gnomes of Union Wood, I’ll tell you about that in another blog post.

Lucy is down for the weekend, and we had a day in town yesterday, so more walking. My poor feet don’t know what’s hit them. It was Record Store Day, and we queued The Record Room to open, luckily Lucy got the Taylor Swift release. I loved chatting to the people in the queue, such nice people. We went to The Range (quite a lot of things are out of stock since by the way), I’ve never seen a shop so busy! Lucy treated me to lunch at Tank & Skinny’s, their loaded fries are unreal! I will have to go back to get them again!

I got to see two art exhibitions, one in The Hyde Bridge Gallery – Intertwined by Caroline Walshe, this was quite fascinating, and well worth a visit. I loved seeing the cords made from different plants, I read about the spoon theory – which I’d never heard of, it’s a metaphor used to explain how chronic illnesses and other conditions can limit a person’s daily energy levels. I guess that’s where the term spoonie comes from. The exhibition runs until April 26th.

I also got to the opening of Experiments with Reality by Conor Walton at the Hamilton Gallery in Sligo. The exhibition was opened by Susan O’Keeffe, Director of the Yeats Society. It was fascinating, and each piece has a QR code, so you can scan it and see a timelapse video of the work being produced. You can see one of the videos here. The exhibition run until May 17th.

One of the most exciting things was bumping into Florence Gillan, I’m a big fan of her books and I’ve bought them all. So, I was delighted to finally meet her, and I probably fangirled a bit! But sure, that’s me all over. There’s a lovely article about Florence here.

So, after not being well and doing very little, I more than made up for it over the last couple of days. I’m trying to walk more in the hope I’ll get myself into some kind of shape, other than a blob shape before Lucy’s wedding. I’ve got five months to do it, so the cake will be limited too. The loaded fries yesterday wouldn’t have helped but you have to have a treat now and again (just not every day like I do!)

It was also lovely to take the camera out again, the photos above are from the river walk in Coolaney, there’s a beautiful Wellbeing Garden, and it’s a credit to all involved.

I hope you are all keeping well, and as I’m typing the sun is coming out, so maybe next week won’t be as dull as promised. Thank you for reading.
