Sunday Thoughts

It’s been a busy week, and we had three days of summer! Back to the wind and rain again today, but the sun is trying to break through.

I’ve done a podcast for this week, and I say way more on that, this is like the condensed version! You can listen to me ramble on here:

There were a couple of book meetings this week, the pedal is firmly down, and we are making great progress. I love working alongside Louise, I really enjoy her company, and hopefully we’ll continue to meet after the book is published. We met our fabulous graphic designer, and we know that she’ll work her magic.

I do feel like I need a degree when it comes to dealing with printers though. I’d love someone to hold my hand and do it all for me, I feel very out of my depth with this, but I’m determind and that’s a big part of the battle. Rachel and the Buy the Book group have been a great help, knowing that there are people that understand what I’m talking about is just brilliant.

It would also be great to know if we will sell many copies of the book, so we know how many to print. The more you print, the cheaper each book is. In an ideal world we’d have got funding, and that would have been a huge relief. We don’t want to make any money from it, but we do want to cover our print costs, and the percentage that the book shops take. I can’t wait for you to see it, I think it’s going to be something very special.

On Friday I went to a place I’ve wanted to visit since it opened. Wild Ireland is an amazing animal sanctuary in Bucrana, Donegal. I have a dedicated blog post to write about this, but I talk a lot about it on my podcast. I would highly recommend a visit, it’s informative and educational, and all the animals there have been rescused, some from the most awful situations. Again, I’ll write more in another post.

I left home bright and early on Friday. The mist was lingering over the fields, and the sun was rising. I was the only car on the road, and it was very peaceful and beautiful. I stopped in Collooney to take the photo above.

I’d planned to have breakfast in the Sanctuary Cafe at The IOSAS Centre, Google told me they opened at 9.30am, but Google lied, they don’t open until 10.30am. It’s a shame because this place looks lovely, and I love the sound of the prayer garden, it would have made a lovely blog post. Anyway, it might be a place that you’d like to check out, and it’s very close to Wild Ireland. I would have gone back after Wild Ireland, but I was heading to another place that was on my list – in hindsight I shouldn’t have bothered, it looked nothing like it did online, and it wasn’t a great place, so I won’t mention it.

On the way home I stopped in Ballyshannon for breakfast/lunch/dinner. I had a Halloumi burger and potato wedges in Tete-a-Tete Cafe, and it was really lovely. The staff were friendly and welcoming too, well worth a visit.

Yesterday I visited Achonry Farmers Market, and picked up my usual goodies, including an Almond Croissant by Carriag Rua, they are amazing, and also huge. I’ve taken to cutting my treats and goodies in half, and putting them in the ‘freezer of happiness’ I always forget they are there, so I get a nice surprise when I rediscover them.

I’ll say farewell to you all for now, and a special thank you to the people who supported the blog this week, it’s very much appreciated. The full version of my Sunday Thoughts is on the podcast, so happy listening, and wishing you a good week ahead.
