What’s on in Sligo, North Mayo, North Leitrim, Roscommon and beyond – June 6th – 14th, 2024

This blog post is to go along with the podcast – which I’d recommend you listen to, because it’s more indepth – and you can let me know ideas for a name – you’ll get the idea when you hear it 🙂 There’s so much happening, and here are just some suggestions.

Thursday, June 6th

Friday, June 7th

Culture Friday, from 1 pm to 1.30 pm, in Boyle Craft Shop, Roscommon. Bernadette McCarrick will be reading poetry from her recent publication ‘To Walk in My Native Place’. Free event.

The Sundance Salsa Fest takes place from June 6th – 9th, in Sligo. Full details on the website.

Linda Fredriksson performs Juniper at Áras Inis Gluaire in Belmullet on Friday 7th June at 8pm. Fredriksson has already garnered wide-spread recognition as a flamboyant improviser and versatile musician. Considered one of Europe’s leading jazz saxophonists, they have blazed their own musical trail, daring to step outside of the genre in a way that is uniquely personal. Linda Fredriksson tickets are €20 (plus booking fee), and can be purchased via the Áras Inis Gluaire online ticket office.

Roscommon Chamber Music Festival 2024 will take place from June 7th to 9th this year in Roscommon Arts Centre and King House, Boyle. Four concerts showcasing the best of local and international talent. King House Boyle and Roscommon Arts Centre. https://www.roscommonchambermusicfestival.com/

Ballinglen Museum of Art is holding the first of their series of one-day workshops in Art and Ecology at The North Mayo Heritage Centre. Plein Air Painting with Randall Exon takes place from 10am to 4pm.  The cost for the day is €50 and includes a tour of North Mayo Heritage Centre’s amazing organic gardens.
