Sunday Thoughts

After 11 weeks of January, it’s finally the last Sunday of the month! Yay! I hope you are keeping well and for those of you in Ireland, I hope the storms haven’t affected you too much. We’ve had almost a week of storms.

First was Storm Isha which left us without power and phone signal for around 12 hours. Luckily, the Christmas candles were to hand, and we have a couple of lights that kick-in when the power goes off. We also have a little gas hob, so at least we could have a cuppa. I do feel sorry for those that were without power for almost a week, and well done to the ESB crews for all their hard work in restoring everyone.

Hot on the heels of Isha was Storm Jocelyn, we had another power cut during that, and one of our fences is leaning precariously. Everything had died down and then an unnamed storm appeared on Thursday night. At this stage I feel like I’m Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz!

I was going through my Facebook stats during the week, I’m really delighted with the way the blog page is going. I love my blog and I’d be lost without it, so to see people engaging with it is just wonderful.

I got my hair done yesterday! I used to be really scared of going to the hairdresser, and I was thinking about that recently, and wondering what the issue was. I know I don’t like it when they pull my hair or burn me with the hair dryer, but I figured there was something more going on. I finally realised that it probably stems back to when I was around 12, I used to dance competitively and I had really long hair, my dance partner was shorter than I was, and my hair was put in buns when we danced, so it made me look taller. The dance coach made me get my hair cut really short, and I remember sitting in the hairdressers sobbing, because I really didn’t want it done. That’s probably my issue with hairdressers, anyway, to cut a long story short I have found Janelle at The Hair and Beauty Quarter, Sligo, and she’s amazing! This is the second time I’ve been to her, and I have a patch of sore skin on my scalp, Janelle adds something to the hair colour so that for the first time since I’d had my hair coloured that it doesn’t hurt me. I can’t believe the difference!

I went to the Marble Arch Caves on Friday, I have a proper blog post to write about that, and I will do in the coming days. It was great for me to get out. A lot of my blog readers think that I’m never at home, which couldn’t be further from the truth, I’m usually always at home. In fact, I talked myself out of going to an event during the week because I’d have to see people, and I really couldn’t face it. I’m getting more antisocial as the years go by, and I’m OK with that. I know when I need to go exploring though, it’s very important for me to get out and clear my head. Most of the time I walk is all I need.

Today I went to the old village, it’s such a lovely place, I’ve written about it before. It was just me and the sheep, although I’m convinced that there is something else there. I could hear children’s voices today and there was no one around. There is a bank of snowdrops at the carpark of Glen Wood, it’s just so beautiful to see them. Spring is on the way, you’ll see a photo of them at the top of this blog post.

I hope you are all keeping well. As I type this the wind is picking up, and I hope we aren’t in for yet another storm. Calmer weather would be nice from now on. Thanks, as always for reading.
