ArDÚ – Supporting Maternal Mental Health and Wellbeing

I’m always on the look out for new initiatives in Sligo and beyond and if you follow the blog you will know that I’ve had my own mental health issues. When I spotted ArDÚ on social media I asked more about it so that I could tell you.

Aolish, the founder of ArDÚ sent me this information:

“ArDÚ which is the Irish word for Rise is a new project based in Sligo aimed at supporting maternal mental health and well being. Having experienced the crippling affects of delayed post natal depression after my second child , I decided I wanted to try and help break the taboo around talking about post natal depression and create a space where women could come together and take part in activities that are good for both the body and the mind. Often social media puts increased pressure on women , in particular Mothers, making them believe they have to have everything together- all of the time and that is just not the reality for so many. I wanted to normalise the fact that it’s ok to not be ok all of the time , by sharing my own story and share useful tools that can help those going through the same thing.”

You can follow ArDÚ on Instagram @ ardu_risetogether

I think this is an amazing idea and I wish Aolish the very best of luck, I’m sure this is so needed.
