I was invited along to the launch of the Icon Spa in Castle Dargan Estate, Ballygawley, Sligo. This is a beautiful hotel located on 170 acres of parkland, including a championship golf course. I’d seen photos of the spa (and the afternoon tea) before and it was on my list to visit, so it was nice to be invited to the launch.

The spa is located on the lower floor of the hotel, looking out onto the golf course. I love that the seaweed baths and jacuzzi are outside, there’s something so special about relaxing in warm water but feeling the elements of the weather on your face.

When we arrived we were greeted by the most wonderful live music, canapes and Prosecco, I was driving so I had a strawberry daiquiri mocktail, it was delicious, and so were the cakes (I took myself off my cake deprivation for the night).

We had a tour of the spa, a highlight was the thermal suite – there are beautiful views across the grounds, and the loungers are heated – this is the first spa I’ve seen heated loungers in – bliss!

Dawn, one of the therapists gave me a hand and arm massage, it’s the first time I’ve had this done and it was lovely. Dawn was really friendly too, and I enjoyed chatting to her.

We were given a goodie bag each, including two chocolate brownies from the head chef (yum!) and a €20 off voucher for the spa – I’m hoping this includes a seaweed bath because I love them. I am a bit worried about getting hit on the head by a golf ball (this is something that could probably only happen to me), but I’m sure the golfers know what they are at.

Castle Dargan is a stunning estate, it would be perfect for a wedding – set in the 18th Century Coach House Lounge. There’s also the ruins of the castle on the estate, I’d love to explore that, but it might just be for guests or golfers. You can find out more about the Icon Spa here.
This isn’t a sponsored post, I was invited along for the launch, but I wasn’t asked to blog or post photos, and no money was exchanged.
Sounds a lovely afternoon Val, I’m pleased you enjoyed it.
