The Sligo Women in Business Network

I went along to the Sligo Women in Business event earlier this week in The Avalon Centre, Sligo. I’ve been a member of the network for a number of years but I haven’t been to a meeting for a long time.

Sligo Women in Business Network was established in 2004 and is supported by LEO Sligo. SWIBN has over 300 members and is a supportive community, the network was previously facilitated by Oonagh Monahan and assistant facilitator Fiona Timoney who did a wonderful job. Earlier this year Fran Best and Maeve McCormack have now taken over the network and they were both friendly and welcoming when I arrived to the meeting.

We heard of a number of supports that are available to Sligo Women in Business Network members, and best of all is that it’s free to be a member. It can be very isolating for those running a micro, or indeed any size of business, and the network gives you a chance to connect with like-minded people.

The meetings are held on the last Tuesday of every month, and there is a different topic each month, with a range of guest speakers. There are a couple of exceptions to the monthly meeting day for International Women’s Day in March and National Women’s Enterprise Day in October, when special events will take place.

The International Women’s Day Event takes place on March 8th in Sligo City Hall. The Speakers are Clotilde Rambuad: Clo’s Chocolates and Le Fournil –  https://clochocolates.ie/ and https://www.lefournilsligo.com/
Sharon Eastwood: Woodrow Sustainable Solutions – https://woodrow.ie/
Charlene Flanagan: Ella and Jo Cosmetics – https://ellaandjo.ie/
You can book your place here, and lunch is included.
