Community Support – Sligo Food and Furniture Bank

I love highlighting great initiatives on the blog and the Sligo Food and Furniture Bank is an excellent idea. This is a community group assisted by amazing volunteers and kindness from the public to ensure the most vulnerable in our society get valued supports.

The Sligo Food and Furniture Bank is located at 1 Gaol Road in Sligo town (the former Sligo Volunteer Centre). The service is free and is open to everyone; individuals, families and voluntary & statutory agencies staff to collect food for their clients.

They have everything you need to make a house and home, from cutlery to curtains, and food to furniture. If you are in need you can contact them on 0868563949, or call during the opening hours – this week they are open on Tuesday from 2.30 – 4pm and Friday from 11am – 3pm.

The Sligo Food and Furniture Bank also welcome donations, at the moment they are looking for food, as long as it’s in date and not damaged. They are working on their storage space so they are not taking any other donations, but when they are up and running they will be accepting unused gifts, homewares, and children’s and adult’s clothes.

To keep up to date with the latest news you can follow the Facebook page.
Well done to all involved in this great initiative.
