Fabulous Food at Drumcoura City, Leitrim

If you are looking for a place with a difference you need to check out Drumcoura City. This is a Wild West Themed Saloon overlooking Drumcoura Lake near Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim, and I’ve been wanting to check this place out for a long time.

The menu has something to suit everyone, from steaks to vegetarian options. I was very intrigued by the Buffalo Cauliflower Wings – and oh my goodness what a delight they were! They were crispy and full of flavour, just perfect. I knew I’d be having dessert so instead of a main course I opted for another starter – Vegetarian Nachos – delicious. Both dishes were so full of flavour and the portions were huge.

For dessert I had Eton Mess and I’ve never seen such a huge dessert. It was absolutely beautiful, a gorgeous mix of meringue, berries and cream and in the middle, hidden underneath was strawberry ice cream. I have to admit it beat me, I couldn’t finish it, and of course now I’m writing about it I’d love it now!

Drumcoura City is also home to an equestrian centre, and if you’ve ever yourself as a cowboy you can ride a horse like they do in the Western films. If you fancy making a break of it check out their glamping pods. I’d eaten so much I was half tempted to book one myself! It’s a great idea though, especially as the bar has an extensive cocktail menu.

You can read more about them on their website, including all about their annual Cowboys and Heroes Country Music Festival.

While you are in the area Glenview Folk Museum is also well worth a visit. Take a trip back in time in this extensive museum. There’s something to see where ever you look, including a street scene based on 1930s Ireland.

I also noticed this place as we drove by, Riversdale Guesthouse, it even has a swimming pool! It looked like an idyllic place to stay, with lambs and horses outside.I looked at their website and they also offer barge holidays and as Leitrim is home to the blueway this would be a lovely idea for a break.

So that was my visit to the Wild West in Leitrim. A great day out.
