The Midnight Faeries at Glencar

The highlight of my week was going to see Midnight Faeries at Glencar. This was a production by The Rabbit’s Riot Theatre Company and the Yeats Society Sligo. As soon as I saw it advertised I knew it would sell out so I bought my ticket right away.

At just after 11pm I arrived at Glencar, the teaSHED was open and everyone was welcomed with a hot drink and a cake. I can’t begin to tell you what a magical experience this was.

To see Glencar Waterfall lit up was amazing, and possibly something that I’ll never see again. The faeries performed The Stolen Child by W. B. Yeats and we were guided on the walk by them. We went alongside the river and watched the faeries darting around the trees, their voices echoing the words of the poem. At the end of the performance a lone piper played beside the waterfall. From start to finish it was just something very special, so well done to all involved.
