March is shaping up to be a really busy month with things to do in Sligo. I thought I’d do a post of some suggestions that you might find of interest.
Flex those brain cells at the Table Quiz in aid of Branching Out. This takes place in The Harp Tavern on March 1st.
The Hamilton Gallery host ‘The Spice-Box of Earth’ an exhibition of New Paintings and Drawings by Clive Bright which opens on Thursday 2nd March at 6pm.
Sligo Film Society and The Model Cinema screen the best in independent and international film every Thursday. More details are here.
Bards in the Woods hold their first meeting of 2017 at Hazelwood Forest on March 5th at 2pm. All are welcome and there is no fee. Just bring something for a picnic and your favourite poem or story.
Get fit for summer with Ballymote’s Couch to 5k. This will be starting on Mon 6th March 7.30pm at Corran Park, Ballymote. Check out Corran AC Facebook page for all the details.
To celebrate National Tree Week, Longford Demesne are holding a Hedgerow Demonstration and Guided Walk with Michael Bell from Nature Learn. This is on March 5th in Beltra. At the same location Brian Leyden will be holding an Inspiring Course for Writers on March 11th. All the details are on their Facebook page.
The first event of ‘Volunteer Voices‘ is taking place on Wednesday 8th March in the Gallery Cafe at The Model, 10.30am. The topic is ‘The Gender debate in Volunteering’ as the event falls on International Woman’s Day. This is a free event and tea and coffee will be served.
House Edit are holding what sounds like a great event – INSIDERS SECRETS Interiors & Style masterclass event at the Radisson Blu Hotel on March 11th. You can find out more about it here.
Come Dine with Sligo Global Kitchen on March 11th from 3pm at The Model, Sligo. This is such a lovely afternoon and the food is amazing.
The St. Patrick’s Day parades are on March 17th. The Sligo town one starts at 12 noon and Enniscrone is at 1.30pm, I’ll do a post of the others throughout the county nearer the date.

Sing for the Hell of It at the Hawk’s Well Theatre on March 20th. I went along to this recently and it was great fun, very enjoyable. It’s just a fiver and well worth it, booking is essential.
The Pink Pamper Night takes place on March 31st at 5th on Teeling. This is a wonderful event in aid of North West Hospice. Check out their page here.
